Girls Rock Philly!

It’s not even spring yet, but Girls Rock Philly is busting out all over the area!  We’ll be filling  some gaps with even more spring programming and appearances, but here are some notable events to get you started:

• On Tuesday, March 2nd, GRP was the recipient of an oversized check from the amazing, sold out IgnitePhilly 5!  Thanks to all of them & to Johnny Brenda’s for hosting – the proceeds are enough for 3 camper scholarships! 

• Tuesday, March 23rd, catch the documentary Girls Rock! at the University of Delaware’s Women’s History Month film series.  GRP director Beth will be speaking, as well as Kristin Thomson from the Future of Music Coalition.  (If you can’t make it, you should definitely catch the documentary on Netflix instant or at your local video store.)

• Saturday, April 24, GRP will be representing at the Fishtown Shad Fest again!  Meet us, greet us, and sign in person for Ladies Rock Camp & Girls Rock Philly 2010 as a camper or volunteer.

• May 29-31 is Ladies Rock Camp & we still have spots available! Apply online here.  How could you not after checking out this sweet stop-motion video about it?

• GRP 2010 is filling briskly, so make sure you reserve your place by applying online or printing out your application & mailing it in. See you this summer!

Applications for GRP 2010, from August 9-14, are up online NOW. We’re taking 80 campers, so tell all your friends! Remember, there is now a 7th day of camp — recording a CD — on Sunday, August 15th!

A quick update for you all about Ladies Rock Camp:

That’s right, Ladies Rock Camp is BACK ON!  Apply online for the most exciting Memorial Day Weekend you can have.  More info about LRC here.

MEANWHILE, Camp Week is August 9-13, 2010! Applications will be up on Monday, February 15th & we’re taking 80 campers this time.

Thanks for stopping by the Jefferson Square Music Festival on Saturday, September 19th!  We got a lot of sun & signed up a bunch of new volunteers.

Girls Rock Philly 2009 was a raging success! Check out our official camper band photos.  Both our showcase DVDs and our first-ever compilation CD (recorded in the lovely, generously-donated WXPN studio space) will be coming out in early September.  We’ll let you all know via e-mail when they’re ready.

Updated to add: As of August 11, Girls Rock Philly is a 501c3 public charity!  We’ll be updating our online donations page accordingly.
